MEETINGS

Through our meetings, we follow the principles of the 12-step program, which has helped millions of people worldwide overcome alcoholism and lead fulfilling lives. Whether you’re new to recovery or have been sober for years, you’ll find acceptance, understanding, and encouragement in our group.

Join us for our regular meetings, where you can connect with others who are facing similar challenges and receive the support you need to stay sober one day at a time. We believe that together, we can achieve and maintain sobriety, and build a life free from the grips of alcohol addiction

Graves Street offers several types of meetings to cater to the diverse needs of individuals in recovery. Here are explanations of our common AA meeting types:

  1. Open Meetings: Open meetings welcome anyone interested in AA or alcoholism. This includes individuals who may not have a drinking problem but want to learn more about AA. Friends, family, and the general public are also welcome.
  2. Closed Meetings: Closed meetings are for individuals who have or think they may have a drinking problem. These meetings provide a safe and confidential environment for members to share their experiences and support one another.
  3. Speaker Meetings: In speaker meetings, a member shares their personal story of alcoholism, recovery, and how AA has helped them. These meetings can be inspirational and provide hope to those struggling with alcohol addiction.
  4. Discussion Meetings (Open & Closed): Discussion meetings involve group discussions on topics related to alcoholism, recovery, and the AA program. Members are encouraged to share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
  5. Big Book Study Meetings: In Big Book study meetings, members study and discuss the teachings and stories in the “Big Book” of Alcoholics Anonymous, which outlines the principles of the AA program.
  6. Online Meetings: In recent years, many AA groups have started offering online meetings, allowing individuals to participate in meetings from anywhere with an internet connection.

Our AA group offers a different mix of meeting types based on the needs and preferences of its members. The primary goal of all AA meetings is to provide support, encouragement, and a sense of community to individuals seeking recovery from alcoholism
